Your safety is important to us. Please read these guidelines carefully before making any purchases or sales on our platform.

Important: Payment Options Vary by Listing

Sellers choose how buyers pay. Some listings allow deposits or full purchases processed securely through Foldtender via Stripe, while others are arranged directly between buyer and seller. Always check the listing details for the specific payment option.

When payments go through Foldtender: Deposits and full purchases are processed via Stripe. Stripe processing fees are passed through to the buyer at checkout. Foldtender does not add additional platform fees.

When purchases are off-platform: Contact the seller directly to arrange payment and pickup. Foldtender is not involved in these transactions and cannot guarantee or recover funds.

DO - Safe Practices

  • Request a video call with the animal before sending any payment. Ask them to show specific features or behaviors.
  • Visit in person whenever possible before paying. See the animal with your own eyes.
  • Use a written contract outlining the terms of sale, health guarantees, and what happens if there are issues.
  • Use payment methods with buyer protection when possible. Credit cards offer chargeback rights that wire transfers do not.
  • Check the seller's verification status and look for reviews from previous buyers.

DON'T - Red Flags

  • Never send money to someone you haven't verified. If you haven't seen the animal in person or on video, be extremely cautious.
  • Never wire money or send gift cards. These payment methods cannot be reversed if you are scammed.
  • Don't trust "too good to be true" deals. If a purebred animal is being sold for a fraction of market value, it's likely a scam.
  • Be wary of sellers who refuse video calls or won't let you visit. Legitimate sellers have nothing to hide.
  • Don't send full payment upfront for expensive animals without a deposit structure and written agreement.

Seller Responsibilities

  • Be honest about the animal's condition, health history, and any issues.
  • Provide accurate photos and descriptions. Misrepresenting animals will lead to disputes and account suspension.
  • Honor your commitments. If you agree to a sale, follow through. Breaking agreements harms trust in the community.
  • Keep records of all communications and transactions in case of disputes.

Report Suspicious Activity

If you encounter suspicious listings, potential scams, or fraudulent behavior, please report it immediately. We take all reports seriously and will investigate.
